What to do if sql-mode setting doesn't work in my.ini

If you need to change the default sql-mode values, but they do not work after restarting the server, then make sure that you have entered this setting in the section under mysqld heading

[mysqld]

If you wrote it elsewhere, sql-mode changes wouldn't be applied.
